Pop royalty ahoy! mxmtoon has teamed up with Carly Rae Jepsen for brand new track 'ok on your own'

Pop court assemble! Bow before your rulers! HRH Queen of Bedroom Popsters mxmtoon has teamed up with our most benevolent leader, Grand Empress Carly Rae Jepsen for a brand new track, 'ok on your own'.

Taken from mxmtoon's 'dusk' EP, set to arrive on 1st October, Maia explains: “I was beyond excited to work on this track and have it be graced by Carly Rae Jepsen, someone who stands for empowerment and knows the themes of love and loneliness all too well. My hope for the song is that “ok on your own” can let people know that vulnerability is never something to be afraid of, and admitting you need time for yourself and support from a friend is sometimes a necessary step.”

She continues “sometimes relationships aren’t meant to work. It’s a bitter reality that many of us come to terms with at one point or another, but we all have to realize our own self worth before letting certain people into our lives! “ok on your own” is your reminder that stepping away from a relationship isn’t a sign of weakness, but rather one of strength!”

It all follows up on the announcement of her new podcast, 365 days with mxmtoon.

The project will feature daily instalments for an entire year, with Maia discussing interesting, weird, and funny events of that day in history.

She explains: "365 days with mxmtoon is a daily podcast with a focus on world history, music history, and my own life too! the goal with each episode is to hopefully inspire listeners to stay curious and think critically about the events that have brought us to where we are today. i believe it’s my responsibility to help shed light on important issues, and this podcast can hopefully motivate others to spark a conversation with their communities as we venture through the miscellaneous nature of our world."

mxmtoon currently graces one of the nine special edition covers of the new issue of Dork, highlighting some of the most exciting and freshest acts on the planet. You can grab a copy of her mag below.
