Kaiser Chiefs and Frankie and the Heartstrings have signed up for new Sunderland festival, Lamplight

A new festival is launching in Sunderland this summer.

Hosted by Sunderland City Council, Lamplight Festival will take place from Saturday 8th - Sunday 9th August in the city centre’s Mowbray Park with sets from Kaiser Chiefs, Frankie and the Heartstrings, Deacon Blue, KT Tunstall, and Roddy Woomble.

Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson says: “It’s always great to be part of a new festival and we can’t wait to once again play alongside Frankie and the Heartstrings as well as other great acts to headline the Saturday stage in Sunderland.”

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday 14th February; visit lamplightfestival.com for more information.

Elizabeth and Jeremy may "hate" that "awful holiday", but their new album 'Romantic Comedy' seems rather well-timed. We caught up with them to stoke the fires.

It would be easy to see Blossoms as just another indie band, but that would be selling them short. Never pausing for breath, new album ‘Foolish Loving Spaces’ is a revelation.
