Brooklyn-based newcomer Chloe Lilac has today dropped her second EP, 'Douchebag'. The follow-up to debut 'Manic Pixie Dream', it arrives after a busy 2019 of festival spots and support slots - including with Dork cover star, mxmtoon. The indie-popster has a knack for channelling life's ups and downs into assertive, engaging tunes that might just make you feel a little bit better about whatever it is you're going through.
OBVIOUS
It's about not being treated like a priority. In any relationship, you should feel valued and loved. They should make it obvious, it shouldn’t be a question to either party.
MISS YOU
'Miss You' is about my first breakup. Every time me and this person would break up, I would miss them SO much, and kind of forget who I was.
MODERATION
This one's about my struggle with self-esteem. I had gotten into a fight with a friend where they said I made them uncomfortable. It really hit home for me, because that’s something I get a lot. I’m a really intense person, and that’s too much for some people sometimes.
HERE’S YOUR SONG
It's about an ex-friend I had. He objectified me a lot and put me on a pedestal in a really unhealthy way. It changed my perception of co-ed friendships for a long time. I thought we were friends and the whole time, there was an ulterior motive.
DOUCHEBAG
'Douchebag' is about sticking it to noncommittal assholes! Setting standards for yourself and not letting some douchebag take advantage of you.
WHO IS EMILY?
This song is about a guy I was hanging out with getting a text from some girl named Emily at 1am. He was one of those dudes that never had contact names for anyone, and so in my head I FREAKED out. I still don’t know who Emily is…
JANSPORT
It's about realising I didn’t mean as much to someone as I thought I did.
