Whenyoung - Dreams
Published: 4:40 pm, August 13, 2018Words: Jake Hawkes.

Whenyoung are celebrating their Limerick roots on their newest track – and that doesn't mean they've composed a dirty poem or two. Anyone who's seen them live over the past few months will know they've been covering The Cranberries' classic ‘Dreams' for some time, but until now they hadn't given it a studio makeover.

Staying relatively true to the original, there's just enough Whenyoung flavour to make the track feel fresh, without stepping on the toes of any diehard Cranberries fans. If you're covering a universally known classic, it's best to give it a complete overhaul (Arctic Monkeys' cover of ‘Love Machine' springs to mind), but with a track like this, the softer approach does wonders. If you've been a Cranberries fan for years, you'll love the new spin on a great song, but if you've never even heard of them, you're still gonna like this, we promise.

We've said it before, and we'll say it again: Whenyoung seem incapable of making anything but bangers.

On their first album, The Amazons kicked down the door to the mainstream. With the follow-up, ‘Future Dust’, they’re ready to do it all over again.
