The Candescents - Drink To Paradise
Published: 1:57 pm, November 09, 2018Words: Martyn Young.

The Candescents have got this pop lark well and truly nailed; ‘Drink To Paradise’ is yet another solid gold chunk of melodic goodness from Dirty Hit’s US stars.

The band succeed in making what is really quite difficult, sound effortless. Breezy to the point where you absolutely must hang your washing outside on the line, it’s the sort of indie pop track heard in dreams.

An ode to young love and all the swirling emotions it provokes, the track is full of melodic twirls including a glorious moment when singer Alex Harris can’t help but let out a euphoric cry of “Oh!!!” You’ll probably do the same.

Oh, and check out that A+ guitar solo. It doesn't get any better than this. The Candescents' rise is swiftly gathering pace.
